Ivana Goláňová (she/her) is a psychologist and psychotherapist. She has been a
councellor at Samtökin ’78 since the beginning of 2022.
She graduated from psychology at Charles University in Czech Republic with
specialization in Clinical and Health Psychology and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy at Center of Cognitive Psychotherapy in Mexico with specialization in Schema Therapy. She is a member of Czech Association for Psychotherapy, Félag Sálmeðferðarfræðinga SALM (Icelandic Association for Psychotherapy), and Sálfræðingafélag Íslands (Icelandic Association of Psychologists). Her approach is influenced by long term stays in different countries. That is why she is drawn to working in an intercultural environment. Originally from Czechia, she used to live in Spain and Mexico, and Iceland is her home. She speaks Czech, English, and Spanish and conducts her consultations in all those languages.
Moreover, she likes working with people who do not perceive relationships and sexuality as a monotonous constant and differ from the generally accepted norm which is why she joined the team of Samtökin ’78.
Ivana has broad experience of working with diverse population including young people and students, elderly, addicts and psychiatry patients among others. In recent years, she has collaborated with The Icelandic Red Cross and participated in various activities withrefugees and asylum seekers. She works as a psychologist in Heilsugæslan
and Heilbrigðisskoðun innflytjenda (Immigrant Heath Examination). Moreover, she is an owner of a private practice deXpre therapy in Hafnarfjördur.
