Samtökin ‘78 og Hinsegin dagar lýsa yfir djúpstæðum áhyggjum af því eldfima ástandi sem skapast hefur fyrir hinsegin fólk í Póllandi. Á síðustu mánuðum hefur andúð á hinsegin fólki náð áður óþekktum hæðum fyrir tilstilli ríkisstjórnar landsins, margra sveitar- og borgarstjórna og kaþólsku kirkjunnar. Stjórnmálafólk og trúarleiðtogar hafa nýtt dagskrárvald sitt til þess að viðhafa hatursfull ummæli og ýta undir ranghugmyndir um hinsegin fólk.
Margt hinsegin fólk í Póllandi óttast nú um líf sitt og framtíð. Hættuleg orðræða valdafólks sem tengist kosningabaráttu stjórnarflokksins Laga og réttlætis, fyrst fyrir Evrópuþingskosningar í vor og nú í aðdraganda þingkosninga sem fram fara í haust, hefur gefið hatri á hinsegin fólki byr undir báða vængi. Á síðustu dögum og mánuðum hafa óhugnanlegar fréttir borist frá landinu. Tugir pólskra borga hafa lýst því yfir að þær séu lausar við ‘hinsegin hugmyndafræði’. Vikublaðið Gazeta Polska hefur sent út límmiða sem lesendur geta nýtt til merkingar á ‘hinseginlausum svæðum’. Á laugardaginn beittu mótmælendur hinsegin fólk grófu ofbeldi í gleðigöngu í borginni Bialystok, þeirri fyrstu sem skipulögð er þar í borg. Ljóst er að hinsegin fólk í Póllandi býr við verulega ótryggt ástand, aukna jaðarsetningu og hættu á ofsóknum.
Samtökin ‘78 og Hinsegin dagar skora á utanríkisráðherra Íslands, Guðlaug Þór Þórðarson, og ríkisstjórnina alla að fordæma hatursáróður pólskra stjórnvalda gegn hinsegin fólki og hvetja þau til þess að hverfa frá þeirri fjandsamlegu stefnu sem þau hafa markað sér.
Baráttusystkinum okkar í Póllandi og pólskum bandamönnum þeirra hér á landi sendum við okkar bestu baráttukveðjur. Mannréttindi og brot á þeim eru ekki einkamál þjóða heldur þarf alþjóðasamfélagið allt að sýna aðhald og senda sterk skilaboð. Við stöndum með ykkur!

Samtökin ‘78 – The National Queer Organization of Iceland and Reykjavik Pride declare profound concern over the alarming situation that has emerged for LGBTQ+ people in Poland. In the last few months, negative attitudes towards LGBTQ+ people have escalated due to the actions of the Polish government, municipalities and the catholic church. Political and religious leaders have used their platform to distribute hate and encourage false beliefs about members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Many LGBTQ+ people in Poland now fear for their lives and future. The inflammatory speech that has recently been used in connection with campaigns of the ruling Law and Justice party, first before the European Parliament elections this spring and now preceding the Polish parliamentary elections, has encouraged and perpetuated hate. In the last days and months we have received alarming news from Poland. Numerous Polish cities have declared themselves ‘free from LGBT-ideology’. The weekly newspaper Gazeta Polska has distributed stickers that readers can use to mark a place of their choosing as an ‘LGBT-free zone’. On Saturday, demonstrators viciously attacked marchers in the first pride parade ever to be held in the city of Bialystok. It is clear that LGBTQ+ people in Poland face increased insecurity, marginalisation and danger of persecution.
Samtökin ‘78 and Reykjavik Pride call on the Icelandic government and its minister of Foreign Affaris, Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson, to condemn the hateful propaganda of Polish authorities towards queer people and to encourage them to abandon their vicious course.
To our siblings in Poland and their Polish allies here in Iceland we send our very best wishes and solidarity. Human rights and violations thereof are not private domestic issues of nations. The international community must stay alert and send a strong message whenever needed. We stand with you!

Samtökin ‘78 – Islandzka Narodowa Organizacja na rzecz Osób Queer oraz Reykjavik Pride wyrażają głębokie zaniepokojenie w związku z alarmującą sytuacją, jaka dotyka ostatnio osoby LGBTQ+ w Polsce. W ciągu ostatnich kilku miesięcy działania rządu, samorządów oraz Kościoła katolickiego powodują eskalację negatywnego nastawienia w stosunku do osób LGBTQ+. Zarówno polityczni liderzy oraz liderki, jak i przedstawiciele Kościoła oraz środowisk katolickich używają swoich platform do szerzenia nienawistnej propagandy i fałszywych przekonań na temat członków i członkiń społeczności osób LGBTQ+.
Wiele osób LGBTQ+ w Polsce czuje strach o swoje życie i przyszłość. W trakcie kampanii wyborczej przed wyborami do Parlamentu Europejskiego oraz teraz, przed wyborami parlamentarnymi, rządząca partia Prawo i Sprawiedliwość podżegała do nienawiści i utrwalała ją. W ostatnich dniach i miesiącach dopływały do nas alarmujące informacje z Polski. Łącznie kilkadziesiąt miast, gmin, powiatów i województw zadeklarowało się jako „wolne od ideologii LGBT”. Tygodnik Gazeta Polska wypuścił naklejki z napisem „Strefa wolna od LGBT”. W ostatnią sobotę kontrdemonstranci agresywnie zaatakowali uczestników i uczestniczki pierwszego Białostockiego Marszu Równości. Oczywistym jest, że osoby LGBTQ+ w Polsce stoją w obliczu zwiększonej niepewności, marginalizacji i zagrożenia prześladowaniami.
Samtökin ‘78 i Reykjavik Pride wzywają islandzki rząd oraz ministra spraw zagranicznych Guðlaugura Þóra Þórðarsona do potępienia nienawistnej propagandy polskich władz w stosunku do osób queerowych oraz nakłaniania ich do porzucenia owych działań.
Wysyłamy najlepsze życzenia i wyrazy wsparcia naszemu polskiemu rodzeństwu oraz ich islandzkim sojusznikom i sojuszniczkom. Prawa człowieka i ich łamanie nie są prywatnymi i wewnętrznymi sprawami narodów. Międzynarodowa społeczność musi zachować czujność i wysyłać jasne komunikaty, gdy jest to potrzebne. Jesteśmy z wami!
