The collaborative project between the Queer Youth Centre and the Reykjavík City Theatre, “Queer Summer Work School Group”, received an award yesterday, May 7th, at the Reykjavík leisure activities harvest festival. At the festival, the School and Leisure Council presented incentive awards for the 2025-2026 operating year. The project involved creative work by young people at the youth centre. They were given the opportunity to participate in a creative project that explored the reality of queer youth. The project was ambitious and focused on self-empowerment and enhancing the participants’ social skills. The project was managed by Hrefna Þórarinsdóttir, Director of the Queer Youth Centre, Vigfús Karl Steinsson, an employee at the Queer Youth Centre, and Eva Halldóra Guðmundsdóttir, Head Teacher at the Reykjavík City Theatre’s drama school.
Samtökin ’78 congratulates the Queer Youth Centre on this well-deserved award.
